Motion Decoys Work

You can create motion decoys to attract ducks in a variety of ways, including some old tricks. The most popular one is using jerked strings to create ripples in the spread. Today, there are various ways you can create motion decoys. For example, you can set an electric trolling motor to a wooden frame or blind that blends in. After mounting the motor, set the wooden frame or bling near the spread and switch the motor to get the propeller running just below the surface of the water. Create a Fake Water Hole

Creating fake waterholes is one of the ways you can use to attract water fowlers. Luckily, you won't have to go far to find waterfowls as they are available all through the season. One of the tricks that old-school hunters employed was using large sheets of plastic with irregular shapes to create the illusion of shallow water. This was done on frozen mornings. For this trick to work on ducks, you should find a depression, remove any weeds and lay the plastic down. If you have some weeds, big stalks or decoys, place them on the edges of the spread. The final step is sprinkling some water on the plastics to make them reflective. Muddify your Water

When ducks go through shallow waterholes, they make the mud rise from the bottom. It is difficult for ducks to fall for clear water as they are passing by. Make the water in your spread muddy by grinding your feet in to get the attention of passing ducks. You can also dig up soil that has been submerged using a paddle. Multiple Mud Hens

You can also hunt a marsh at low tide and dig a shovel of mud and add it to an existing mound of mud. If your spot is shallow, you can make ducks think there are other ducks by creating an illusion of a floating duck.
